Job Description

Grants Manager

This position plays a crucial role in securing funding from public, corporate and private sources to support Imagine!'s mission of creating a world of opportunities for all abilities. The Grants Manager role manages the full funding lifecycle including prospect research, proposal development/writing and submission, and reporting which enable Imagine! to sustain and expand its impact on the intellectual and developmentally disabled community.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Uses grant writing web-based software to research and identify appropriate funding prospects, including public, corporate, and private entities.
  • In conjunction with Foundation and organization leadership, identifies funding opportunities that align with the needs of the organization and its mission.
  • Examines the terms of the award and any regulatory requirements; partners with CEO, CFO and CSO to ensure the terms are amenable.
  • Collaborates with Imagine! staff to elicit information necessary for grant development including compelling stories, specific goals, objectives, and outcomes of the grant project ensuring that proposal deadlines are met and allowing time for editing and revising as necessary.
  • Works with finance staff, assistant directors, and program managers to help prepare application budget.
  • Prepares, writes and submits competitive grant proposals using internal and external data and supporting documents to support grants requests, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Works with appropriate staff to help ensure grant budgets and expenses are charged to the award and helps track spend.
  • Creates and updates the grants calendar.
  • Creates and updates reports on grant status and revenue.
  • Serves as the primary contact with each grantor.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements.

  • Attends board meetings as needed.
Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Excellent written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and project management skills.
  • Strong editing and technical writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of grant sources and ability to maximize results through the use of grant writing software including deep research abilities to source and vet grant opportunities.
  • Ability to quickly identify and understand Imagine! department program/project goals, methods, evaluation techniques, and budgets.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, using electronic media and telephone, with individuals and groups at all professional levels.
  • High degree of organization, with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints.
  • Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet-based databases, etc.
  • Proficient with Excel.
  • Knowledge of the private non-profit sector preferred
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements.

Training/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, non-profit management, English or related field required or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of successful grant writing and/or government RFP response experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in each: professional writing, long-term service supports, and project management.

Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • Requires the ability to travel to various locations throughout Boulder and Broomfield counties occasionally.
  • Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing work environment.
  • This position requires occasional use of a personal vehicle.
  • Office and community based with some remote work available.
  • Will work occasional nights and weekends.
